TASMANIA – HISTORY

Day 1

Arrive Hobart airport, collect your luggage and meet your coach drivers who will take you into Hobart City for a wander and self-guided city walking tour. Stop at a local bakery or similar for your lunch (at own cost), Return to the coach and depart for Constitution Dock, driving up to Mt Wellington for a look around, then off to your accommodation and dinner.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast, travel to Port Arthur Historic Site to enjoy some Australian history with a guided walking tour and Harbour cruise.

Port Arthur Historic Site: Guided Walking Tour Includes entry - visit the Port Arthur heritage listed penal settlement to meet your guide and learn about the rich history of Tasmania's convict past.

Port Arthur Harbour Cruise: Ccruise around the Isle of the Dead (entry on to the island not included), the final resting place for nearly 2,000 people buried here from 1831 to 1877.

This afternoon transfer to your accommodation and evening meal.

Day 3

This morning, after breakfast, load your luggage onto the coaches for a day of adventure via the Heritage Highway. After departing your accommodation, travel north via the A9 to Brighton, this is where you start the Heritage highway. When you hit Kempton make sure you have your teams sorted as this where Silhouette bingo commences (with your copy of the Folklore & History of the Heritage Highway) - keep an eye out between Kempton and Tunbridge for the sixteen silhouettes. Some are quite close to road and some are high on the hilltops. What stories can they tell us about the history of this intriguing region.

Our first stop will be in Oatlands – collecting the skulduggery books from the Southern Midlands Council to see if you can unravel mysteries of the past.

Before boarding the bus find a nice spot to enjoy your lunch as you have another case to solve.

This afternoon, head for the township of Ross. The second in the series - The Arch Villains - again sets you in the footsteps of John James. Discover why the Bridge at Ross took so long to build, grapple with the mysteries of Dr Zweigle's code breaker, and find the sinister truth behind the 1834 Christmas day riot.  Continue your game of Skulduggery.

This afternoon transfer to your accommodation and evening meal.

Day 4

Early morning breakfast for all as we depart for the views of Cataract Gorge as well as ziplining adventures at Hollybanks.

Continue to Devonport by coach and commence boarding the overnight service on the Spirit of Tasmania to Melbourne.
